NEW OGUN CHIEFTAINCY LAW: OGHA PARLEYS TRADITIONAL COUNCIL ON INSTITUTIONAL REFORMS

Concerned by the need to review the State Chieftaincy law with a view to addressing incessant litigation in chieftaincy matters, ensure adherence to due process in the installation, promotion, burial rites, composition and the activities of kingmakers as well as the need for Chieftaincy Tribunal, the Ogun State House of Assembly today held an interactive session with relevant stakeholders including the State Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs as well as Paramount Rulers and the State Council of Baales on the proposed Chieftaincy Law. The initiative was preparatory to setting the pace for the process of putting in place a new law aimed at repeling the existing legislation for a more comprehensive law that would help reform the traditional institution in the State. OPIC: OGUN ASSEMBLY UNRAVELS MORE INFRACTIONS, AS OVER N40m MISSING

More facts emerged today as the members of the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and anti-corruption again took on the former Managing Director of the State Property and Investments Corporation (OPIC) Barr. 25 AUDIT INFRACTIONS: OGUN LAWMAKERS TO RE-ENGAGE FORMER MD, ODUSOLU ON MONDAY

The immediate past Managing Director of the Ogun State Property and Investment Corporation, Barr. Jide Odusolu has again been invited to appear before the Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-corruption on the 25 infractions against him by the audit reports during his tenure of office for further engagements on Monday 9th November, 2020. The Speaker, Rt. Hon. Olakunle Oluomo, who made the announcement; said that the former Managing Director needed to come along with all necessary documents relating to all transactions on investments, housing projects and other fixed assets. It would be recalled that the lawmakers had on Tuesday, 13th of October, engaged Odusolu for about six hours, expressing displeasure on the manner he ran the Corporation given the 25 infractions as outlined in the audited accounts of the Corporation between 2015 and 2019.
