STAKEHOLDERS COMMEND OGUN ASSEMBLY FOR INITIATING BILL ON RURAL, SEMI- URBAN INTEGRATION DEVELOPMENT

Stakeholders in Ogun State, who converged on the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta today deliberated and commended the Assembly for initiating the State Rural and Semi- Urban Integration Development bill, saying it would help accelerate even development of the rural communities in State. Stakeholders who spoke included the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development, Engr. Sakirudeen Salami, Director of Legislative Drafting in the Ministry of Justice, Mr. James Mafe, Dr. Bunmi Fajobi, who represented the Ministry of Community Development and Cooperatives and representative of Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning, TPL Abiola Ayodele amongst others noted that the bill would help drive development in all rural and semi-urban communities in the State. OGUN ASSEMBLY PASSES RESOLUTION URGING IMMEDIATE MEASURES AGAINST SALES OF FAKE, EXPIRED DRUGS

Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the State Government through the relevant agencies to step up measures towards curbing the menace of fake and expired drugs in the society. The passage of the resolution followed a motion moved by the Majority Leader, Yusuf Sheriff, seconded by Hon. Olakunle Sobukanla and supported by the Whole House through a voice vote. Earlier while opening debate on the motion, the sponsor, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Health and member representing Yewa North 2 State Constituency, Wahab Haruna, decried the high rate of fake and expired drugs, citing an instance of some of his constituents who recently purchased an expired drug at a pharmacy. He sought the need for the State Government to empower the State Ministry of Health, State Hospital Management Board and other relevant agencies to embark on proper monitoring of the pharmaceutical stores across the State to ensure that fake and expired drugs were taken off the shelves....

OGUN ASSEMBLY PASSES LOCAL GOVERNMENT AMENDMENT LAW

By Idowu Sakirudeen Ogun State House of Assembly has passed the Local Government (Amendment) Law, 2024, to allow for the creation of an Audit Department in the Local Government administration with a view to further entrenching transparency, prudency and improved service delivery. The passage of the bill followed the presentation of the Committee report by the Chairman, House Committee on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon. Jemili Akingbade, who also moved the motion for its adoption, seconded by Hon. Dickson Awolaja, and supported by all the members through a voiced vote at a plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta. OGUN SPEAKER URGES NMA TO MAKE MORE SACRIFICE IN DELIVERING HEALTH SERVICE

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Elemide Oludaisi, has tasked members of the Nigerian Medical Association (NMA) to continue to make necessary sacrifice as government is already addressing the issues of shortage of manpower confronting the the various government hospitals across the State.
