OGUN SPEAKER CHALLENGES IMMIGRATION SERVICE ON DUE DILIGENCE, COMMENDS SPEEDY ISSUANCE OF NIGERIAN PASSPORT

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has challenged the Management of the Nigerian Immigration Service in the State to discharge the responsibilities with high level of professionalism, through promotion of due diligence and integrity to achieve a prosperous Nigeria. Elemide threw the challenge, while playing host to the leadership of the Immigration Service in the State led by the State Comptroller, Olufunke Odusote at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on the need to address the allegation of maltreatment of residents of border communities, especially those of Egun descent when applying for the Nigerian Passport.   Ogun State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption, chaired by Hon. Damilare Bello, has continued its consideration of the 2023 Auditor-General’s Report on Local Governments, with an invitation to the Management of Access Bank, Oke-Ilewo Branch, alongside some micro finance banks and individuals in respect of wrong deductions from the Odoogbolu Local Government Council's Bank account in September and October, 2022 which was repaid last year without corresponding interest. 2023 LG AUDIT REPORTS: OGUN ASSEMBLY COMMENDS IJEBU NORTH, REVIEWS REMO NORTH, EWEKORO LGs' ACCOUNTS

The Ogun State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption chaired by Hon. Damilare Bello, today began the consideration of the 2023 reports of the Auditor- General for Local Governments with a commendation to Ijebu North Local Government for improved fund management and overall performance during the year under consideration. The House Committee Chairman, in company of his Vice, Hon. OGUN ASSEMBLY SPEAKER CLARIFIES PURPOSE OF DIVERSITY, INCLUSION BILL

The Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, has clarified that the intent of the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion bill was for the promotion of social justice by establishing the diversity, equity and inclusion ( DIE) Commission to serve as a catalyst and platform for the promotion of equitable representation, parity, entrenchment of social justice and the prohibition of discrimination against vulnerable groups in all spheres of life and related matters. OGHA RE-INVITES WORKS, ENVIRONMENT COMMISSIONERS OVER ROAD PROJECTS , AS MORE STAKEHOLDERS SUMMONED ON AKUTE WATERWORKS

Ogun State House of Assembly today has re-invited the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr Ade Akinsanya and his  Environment counterpart, Mr. Ola Oresanya, and other heads of allied agencies under the Ministry of Environment, following their failure to appear before the State lawmakers for an interface on the assessment of state of road infrastructure across the State. OGHA WADES IN ON ALLEGED MALTREATMENT OF SOME RESIDENTS OF BORDER COMMUNITIES BY IMMIGRATION OFFICIALS

Concerns by an alleged maltreatment of some residents of border communities, especially of Egun descent, who are indigenes of Ogun State by immigration officials, the State House of Assembly has taken step to seek the immediate intervention of the State Government and the management of Nigeria Immigration Service on the matter. OGHA INVITES COMMISSIONER FOR WORKS, OTHERS, AS SPEAKER CHALLENGES NOUN STUDENTS ON NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

Ogun State House of Assembly has invited the State Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya his Environment counterpart, Engr. Ola Oresanya, as well as the Special Adviser to the Governor (State Public Works Agency) to appear before the Assembly on Tuesday 12th of August, 2025 at 2.00pm. The invitation followed a report of a fatal truck accident at Uren bridge linking Odogbolu Local Government Area to Ikenne Local Government Area caused by a narrow nature of the bridge which was due for repairs; hence, the need for an interface with the concerned agencies on the conditions of some roads across the State.  The Speaker, Rt. OGUN ASSEMBLY PASSES RESOLUTION AFFIRMING EGBALAND AS ORIGINAL OWNER OF ADIRE FABRIC, COMMENDS GOV. ABIODUN

   Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution countering the recent claims that Adire fabric originated from Ede in Osun State, reaffirming that Abeokuta is the authentic and historical home of the indigenous textile craft. The passage of the resolution followed a motion moved by the sponsor, Hon. Babatunde Tella, seconded by the Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye, and supported by the entire House. Earlier while opening debate on the motion leading to the passage of the resolution, Hon. EKITI STATE UNIVERSITY APPOINTS MAPOLY ALUMNUS OLUWOLE ADEFEMI AS ACTING HEAD OF MASS COMMUNICATION DEPARTMENT

Dr. Victor Oluwole Adefemi has been appointed as the Acting Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Faculty of Multidisciplinary Studies, Ekiti State University, Ado-Ekiti, effective August 1, 2025.  With the appointment, Adefemi is expected to provide academic leadership,  oversee students' registration, coordinate examinations, maintain departmental records, and ensure the smooth running of all academic activities during his tenure. OGUN ASSEMBLY LAUDS SIGNAGE AGENCY’S 99% REVENUE ACHIEVEMENT, APPRAISES TOURISM MINISTRY'S PERFORMANCE

Ogun State House of Assembly has commended the State Signage and Advertising Agency for achieving 99.15% revenue corresponding to its 2025 half-year revenue target.  The members of the State House of Assembly Committee on Information, Culture and Tourism led by Hon. Olusegun Odunuga Kaka, gave the thumb up to the agency today while appraising its mid-year budget performance at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan,  Abeokuta. On his part, Hon. Babatunde Tella praised the agency’s General Manager, Mr. Fola Onifade, for the revenue performance, saying that the agency had generated over ₦269m out of its ₦271m revenue target.
