OGUN ASSEMBLY SUMMONS SUSPECTED LAND GRABBERS


Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Lands and Housing has summoned five members of the Ogundare family over alleged land grabbing activities on a parcel of land situated at Rounda area of Abeokuta. 

The Chairman of the Committee, Damilola Soneye issued the summon while considering a petition written against the members of the family at the Assembly Complex, Oke- Mosan, Abeokuta. 

Soneye, who noted that their activities were against the peace and tranquility of the State, thereafter directed Jinadu Ogundare, Jamiu Ogundare, Jelili Ogundare, Ayilara Ogundare and Mukaila Ogundare to appear before the lawmakers on Tuesday, 8th February, 2022 by 2pm; failure to which would lead to the issuance of an arrest warrant against them by the Assembly.

Earlier, the representative of the petitioner, Idris Akinosho who appealed for the Assembly's intervention, intimated the Committee that the Ogundare family which had earlier sold the landed property to them, after they duly signed documents delineating the lands by the heads of their family to the Akinsoho family; later later disposed same portion to other parties on the disputed land.

Akinosho stressed that they were issued duly signed receipts bearing the Ogundare family and were not allowed access the said property which had been allotted to another person under the guise of changing the agents by some members of the Ogundare family. 

The petition partly reads, "Mr. Speaker, we aver that you will find annexures including but not limited to contracts they signed delineating the lands, receipts given by the Ogundare family to each of the purchasers attached to this letter proving the legal title of our Uncle and Sister stating out in clear terms the contract and terms with which the lands in question was (sic) delineated to Mr. Oladimeji Olaniyi measuring 1 ½ (One and half) Acres and to Mrs. Saratu Abdul-Akeem 1 (One) Acre making a total of 2 ½ (Two and Half Acres in total to our uncle and sister respectively, thus we are taken aback by the acts of these land grabbers in question.

We have tried to resolve the matter amicably severally but with futility and we explored negotiations to avoid dragging our families into the public, however at this stage we can no longer stomach the effrontery of the Ogundare family thus necessitating this petition to your noble office".

428 OGUN PILGRIMS RETURN FROM HAJJ 2025, LAND SAFELY IN NIGERIA

The first batch of Ogun State pilgrims who participated in the 2025 Hajj exercise have safely arrived back in Nigeria. The returnees, numbering 428, touched down at exactly 4:28 p.m. Nigerian time (6:28 p.m. Saudi time), following a successful take-off from Jeddah Airport at 12:07 p.m. Saudi time (10:07 a.m. Nigerian time). OGHA DIRECTS OJIBAS NIGERIA LTD, I.J. AMAKA TO SUSPEND MINING OPERATIONS OVER ROAD, ENVIRONMENTAL DEGRADATION

The Ogun State House of Assembly Committee on Environment has directed Ojibas Nigeria Limited and I.J. Amaka Group of Companies at Elegan Progressive Community in Obafemi Owode Local Government, to suspend their operations forthwith, following a petition over alleged illegal mining operations and environmental degradation.
