OGHA PASSES RESOLUTION SEEKING RENAMING OF GATEWAY ICT POLY, OTHERS AFTER LATE SENATOR OTEGBOLA

Ogun State House of Assembly has passed a resolution calling on the State Government to rename the Gateway ICT Polytechnic, Igbesa and other developmental projects in honour of the late Asiwaju of Aworiland, Senator Solomon Ayodeji Otegbola. Opening debate on the motion leading to the passage of the resolution, the Majority Leader and member representing Ado-Odo/ Ota 1 State Constituency, Hon. Yusuf Sherrif noted that the late Otegbola demonstrated unwavering commitment to public service, education,  health, youth empowerment and infrastructural development. Others who contributed to the debate included the Deputy Speaker Bolanle Lateefat Ajayi,  Minority Leader Lukman Adeleye, Honourables Babatunde Tella and Musefiu Lamidi, stated that the late Senator Otegbola had set standard in governance and public service, stressing the need to immortalise him. OGHA RECEIVES LIST OF COMMISSIONS' NOMINEES FROM GOV. ABIODUN, REQUESTS SUBMISSION OF CREDENTIALS

Ogun State House of Assembly has acknowledged a request from the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, seeking the screening and confirmation of nominees for some statutory commissions in the State. A release from the Clerk/ Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru Adebakin indicated that the list contained in the Governor's correspondence read at the plenary presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide include: those of Local Government Service Commission having Olubukunola Olivia Onabanjo as Chairman, while Hon. Lukman Olufemi Adiro, Martins Adekoyejo Ijaduoye, Olatunde Azeez Abiodun Osunbiyi and Olatunde Rasaki Rufai would serve as members. For the State Teaching Service Commission, Apostle Abiodun Sanyaolu would serve as Chairman, while Olanrewaju Majekodunmi, Deola Akintonde, Hon. Adeleke Salmon ( Sonto), Hon. OGUN ASSEMBLY PARTNERS REDWOOD HOSPITAL FOR COMPREHENSIVE HEALTH SCREENING FOR LAWMAKERS, WORKERS

As members of the Ogun State House of Assembly together with the workers underwent comprehensive health screening by the team from Redwood Hospital led by Dr. Aminat Durodola, through an initiative of the Assembly, the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide stated that the essence was to promote the health wellbeing of the people. The Speaker made the remarks shortly after undergoing the screening which included electrocardiography, sugar level, blood pressure level and urine analysis amongst others conducted on the State lawmakers and all categories of workers in the Assembly, at the Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan Abeokuta. He noted that the screening would save cost and assist all individuals screened to know their health status, and those that required referral were being referred to their various individual hospitals for follow ups. OGHA PUBLIC ACCOUNTS COMMITTEE CHARGES MARKET BOARD, OGEPA ON ACCOUNTABILITY, IMPROVED IGR

Ogun State House Committee on Public Accounts and Anti-Corruption has called on the State Market Board and the State Environmental Protection Agency (OGEPA) to step up measures towards enhancing their operations and ensure accountability in service delivery for the State government to earn the needed funds for more laudable programmes and projects.   The Committee Chairman, Hon. Damilare  Bello, threw the challenge, while playing host to the management teams of the agencies during the ongoing consideration of 2023 audit reports on Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government in the State. Hon.   Ogun State House of Assembly through its Committee on Industry, Trade and Investment has re-invited management teams of Andy CNC Quarry and Max Sanxin Quarry, Ijebu-Ode as well as Sino Trust/Multiverse Quarry and Huaya Quarry, IMOSAN to appear before it on Thursday, 3rd April, 2025 at 2.00pm prompt in respect of the petition against the companies by the State chapter of the Nigerian Union of Mine Workers. Issuing the invitation today shortly after an interface with two out of the six quarries concerned that attended the meeting, the Chairman of the Committee, Hon. Adebisi Oyedele, warned others who failed to attend the meeting that the Assembly would not hesitate to invoke section 129 of the nation's constitution to issue a warrant on them to attend. OGHA RAMADAN LECTURE: CLERIC DECRIES PREVALENCE OF INJUSTICE, COUNSELS ON ATTITUDINAL CHANGE

Concerned by the prevalent acts of injustice and its adverse effects on humanity, an Islamic cleric, who is the Mudheer,  Insight Institute for Islamic and Technical Studies(IIITS), Dr. Afiz  Musa Adeyemi, has counselled Islamic faithful and political leaders at all levels to assess and rid themselves of acts of injustice from the family being the smallest unit in the society to the nation and the entire global community. EIWD: AFRICAN WOMEN LAWYERS ASSOCIATION HONOURS OGHA DEP-CLERK BARR. ADEYEMI

The African Women Lawyers Association Nigeria,  (AWLA) Ogun State Chapter in commemoration of the International Women's day has celebrated  one of her own, the Deputy Clerk  1 of the State House of Assembly, ( Barr.)  Mrs. Funmilayo Adeyemi, describing  her as one of the State Amazons, who has distinguished herself as a Gender advocate and a strong supporter of the Association. Confering the honour on Mrs. Adeyemi, in the presence of the State lawmakers led by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Oludaisi Elemide, the Coordinator of the State Chapter of AWLA Mrs. Oluwatoyin Sonoiki, noted that the Association recognized her role as an achiever, diligent civil servant and gender advocate, who deserved to be honoured as an Amazon having been a good ambassador of AWLA. Congratulating the honouree, the Clerk/ Head of Legislative Service, Mr. Sakiru  Adebakin, described the her as a committed, loyal and hardworking civil servant, who is worthy of the honour bestowed on her.
