EID-EL-KABIR: AMIR HAJJ, PRINCE APELOGUN CALLS FOR INCREASING SACRIFICE, DEVOTION AND PRAYERS
As Muslims around the world mark the Eid-el-Kabir festival, the Amir Hajj and leader of the Ogun State contingent to the 2025 Hajj, Prince Samsudeen Apelogun, has extended heartfelt felicitations to all pilgrims and Muslim faithful, urging them to embrace the spirit of sacrifice, devotion, and selflessness that define the sacred occasion.
Prince Apelogun described Eid-el-Kabir as the peak of the blessed first ten days of Dhul-Hijjah, a spiritually significant period filled with divine mercy, forgiveness, and immense opportunities for good deeds. He emphasized that while the festival is often marked by joyous celebration and the ritual slaughter of rams, its deeper meaning lies in reflecting on the virtues of obedience and submission to Allah’s will, as exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).
He noted that the essence of Eid must be felt not only in ceremonies but in renewed commitment to the values of unity, generosity, and compassion towards others—especially the less privileged. “Let this Eid be a moment to reconnect with our faith, deepen our love for Allah, and show kindness to one another. That is how we truly honour the legacy of Prophet Ibrahim and the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (SAW),” he said.
While addressing the Ogun pilgrims in Saudi Arabia, Prince Apelogun enjoined them to use the occasion to pray fervently for themselves, their families, Governor Dapo Abiodun, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, and the peace and progress of Nigeria. He stressed that their prayers on the plains of Arafah and during the sacred days of Hajj carry great weight, not just for personal blessings but for national rebirth.
The Amir Hajj concluded by praying for a safe return for all pilgrims and wishing all Muslims a joyful, spiritually fulfilling Eid celebration. “May our sacrifices be accepted, our prayers answered, and may Allah grant us the strength to continue living by the values that Eid-el-Kabir represents,” he said.
